Diy Router Duplicator
Welcome to my site!!
I'm excited to show you how I built my manual router duplicator using a simple method for x,y,z axis.
You can save lots of money building your own machine.
I will show you in my plans how you can build one for as little as $150.00 dollars using items you might have around the house.
You can even build it for less than that if you have most of the materials already.
Even if you dont have these items you can still build it for as little as $250.00 if you have to buy everything.
The great thing about my plans is you can modify them easily. After you see some pictures, you could probally build one yourself without any instructions. (Which is one reason I dont include alot of pics). My plans will just take the guess work out when building it. I believe my method is that easy.
You can build it as big or small as you desire.
Now, with anything you build you will need some tools to get the project done. One of the main tools you will need for this project is a drill press. You can usually pick up a used drill press pretty cheap. This will be used for making your linear bearings and
drilling some holes for the carriage. If you dont have a drill press, there are still ways of doing this project.
One way would be somebody you know that has a drill press or getting with a machine shop to precisly drill some holes for you. You could try a hand drill with a drill guide kit but the drill press is the way to go and it insures accuracy when drilling your holes.
Something I may do in the future is make linear bearings and sell them if I start getting more requests for the linear bearings.
It helps to have a chop saw though cuts can be achieved with a skill saw if you take your time cutting your wood pieces. Also, a couple of clamps are good to have to clamp your items while you drill, cut or tap the material.
I believe my machine is one of the easiest to build. You can modify it to suit your needs easily. In the plans, I built a 4'x6' machine but it could be made much smaller or much bigger.
The machine in the plans can easily duplicate materials at least
4.5' long and about 12" wide!!!!
Take in consideration, how much space you will need for your duplicator. The machine will come apart in three sections for take down and storage if needed.
The choice is yours, whether it's built exactly like the one in the plans or modified for your needs.
